Smoked Ham Hash

Smoked Ham Hash (Adapted from CL)

1 tablespoon butter
2 cups frozen country-style hash brown potatoes
1 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
2 tablespoons half-and-half
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons ketchup
1 1/2 cups chopped smoked ham
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-high. Stir in potatoes, onion and bell pepper to pan - sauté until lightly browned, about 5 to 8 minutes. Stir in broth, half-and-half, Worcestershire, and ketchup - bring to a boil and continue to cook until liquid almost evaporates, about 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in ham and black pepper - cook until thoroughly heated, about 2 minutes. Sprinkle with onions and parsley to serve.

Makes about 4 servings.

  1. Joe,what did you buy for the ham? Would that be a ham steak? I made your sloppy joes and your asiago pepper biscuits and enjoyed both. I visit here everyday, you are one of my favorite food blogs. Thanks for all the effort you put into it.

  2. Beth - you could probably use whatever kind of "cooked" ham that you want. Ours was a smoky chunk of ham - not one of those flat ham steaks.
